Zip Zop

Zip Zop terms of use

Last updated: November 1, 2026.

This is an English translation of the French terms of use (https://wub-lab.com/zip-zop/conditions/). If the two versions differ, the French version prevails.

Zip Zop is a rhythm game for Android published by Wub Lab, a sole trader business (full identity, address and telephone in the legal notice: wub-lab.com/en/legal-notice/), reachable at contact@wub-lab.com. These terms apply to the game, its community Jukebox and the web Jukebox (wub-lab.com/en/zip-zop/jukebox/). By creating an account, you accept them; without an account, only sections 5, 6 and 8 concern you.

1. Your account

  • The account is optional and free. It is used to publish beatmaps, to rank on leaderboards, to make friends, to challenge, to play online, to progress and to use the shop.
  • Zip Zop is meant for people aged 13 and over: below that, do not create an account. Between 13 and 14, ask a parent for permission before creating one.
  • One account per person. You are responsible for what is done with yours: keep your password to yourself.
  • Your username is permanent. It must not impersonate anyone else (a person, an artist, a brand, the studio), nor be insulting, hateful, sexual or misleading.
  • You can delete your account at any time, from the game (Profile → your account card → “Delete my account…”); what goes and what stays is described in the privacy policy.

2. What you publish

Your published beatmaps, your username, and the challenges and invitations you send are seen by other players. You remain the author of your beatmaps; by publishing them, you allow Wub Lab to host them and show them free of charge in the game and on the web Jukebox, for as long as they are there. You also allow Wub Lab to use them to improve the game's beatmap generator: their notes are compared, without your username, with what the generator suggests for the same song, and only settings and statistics are drawn from them. No beatmap is copied, republished or attributed to anyone else.

It is forbidden to publish or send:

  • illegal content, or content that infringes the rights of others;
  • hateful, discriminatory, violent or sexual content, or content meant to hurt someone;
  • a misleading title, artist or genre (a beatmap presented as following a song it does not follow), or a copy of someone else’s beatmap passed off as your own;
  • someone else’s personal data, or your own contact details;
  • advertising or spam.

A beatmap never contains sound: the game does not allow it, and that is on purpose. The title and the artist only say which song it is played on.

3. Between players

  • Challenges, invitations and friend requests are there to play together: sending them in bulk or to bother someone is harassment, and it is forbidden.
  • Cheating is forbidden: modifying the game, its files or its exchanges with the server to distort a score, a leaderboard, a counter, a duel or a stake, or to obtain wubs, VIP tokens, experience or items (see section 7). Moving wubs from one account to another by losing stakes on purpose is forbidden too.
  • Getting around a block or an account deletion (another account, another username) is forbidden.

4. Reporting, blocking, and what the studio does

  • Every beatmap on the Jukebox and every player can be reported from the game. A beatmap reported by several people is no longer shown.
  • You can block a player: their friend requests, challenges and invitations no longer reach you, their beatmaps disappear from your Jukebox, in the game as on the web Jukebox, and they are not told. Profile → Blocked players lets you undo it.
  • Wub Lab reads the reports and may, without notice when it is serious: remove a beatmap from the Jukebox, delete content, suspend or delete an account that does not respect these terms. It tells the person concerned, at their account’s email address, why (the content or behaviour at issue, and the rule of these terms or the law applied). You can contest a decision by writing to contact@wub-lab.com.
  • Someone without an account (a rights holder, for example) reports illegal content to contact@wub-lab.com, stating the content (title or address), the reason and their contact details. This address is also the single point of contact for authorities and users under the EU Digital Services Act, in French or in English.

5. Music

Zip Zop provides no commercial songs. You play on the audio files on your phone, which you must have the right to listen to; the game does not modify them and never sends them to a server. The one exception: in a local duel, when the sound only plays on the host’s phone, a guest’s song is lent to the host’s phone, over the local link, for one round, then deleted; only lend it for listening among people gathered together. The game also offers songs under free licenses (Creative Commons) and songs by partner artists, downloaded in the game to play with Wub Lab’s official beatmaps: each one is credited to its author (the credits page of the website and of the game) and remains subject to its license; they are only for playing in Zip Zop, and extracting, copying or distributing them elsewhere is prohibited. If you think a beatmap or a username infringes your rights, write to contact@wub-lab.com.

6. Advertising and the “no ads” purchase

  • The free version shows an ad between songs, never during a game, served by Google AdMob, with or without an account; what it collects, and the choices you have, are described in the privacy policy. Rewarded videos, which earn wubs, only play if you ask for them.
  • The “no ads” purchase is a one-time purchase made through Google Play, under Google Play’s terms (payment, refund); it follows your Google Play account and permanently removes these ads. When a large VIP token pack gives it, it follows your Zip Zop account (see section 7).

7. Wubs, VIP tokens, shop and purchases

  • The game has two virtual currencies, which require an account and have no monetary value: they cannot be converted into money nor exchanged between players, and neither can be changed into the other. - Wubs are earned by playing (games, quests, achievements, level-ups, login calendar, rewarded videos, referrals, weekly leaderboard, stakes won). They cannot be bought, neither directly nor through another currency. - VIP tokens are bought in packs on Google Play. They only pay for shop items and gifts: never for a chest, a stake, a boost or an official game.
  • Every shop item has two prices, one in wubs and one in VIP tokens (one token is worth about 250 wubs): you pay with either currency. Only items can be given to a friend; a gift is paid with VIP tokens, except a duplicate from a chest, which can be given for free (see below).
  • Wubs and VIP tokens only give you a right to use what the shop offers: cosmetic items, which only change how things look, and an experience boost (with wubs). Nothing that can be bought, with wubs, VIP tokens or money, changes the score or the beatmap leaderboards.
  • Official games: the leaderboard of a Jukebox beatmap only receives official games, which the server records itself. Before playing, you choose between practice (free, possible offline, your best score stays on your phone) and an official game (an account and a connection). The first official game of each day is free; the following ones cost 5 wubs, charged at the start. An official game is played in one go: you can pause, but you cannot restart, and quitting or abandoning it counts the game and its wubs. The server refuses an impossible score or a game played too fast. These wubs give no prize: the leaderboard has no reward.
  • In the game, items are shown in wubs and in VIP tokens; the price of a VIP token pack, in euros or in your currency, is the one Google Play shows.
  • VIP tokens and items are digital content supplied immediately. By buying them, you ask for them to be supplied without waiting and you acknowledge that you thereby lose your right of withdrawal (European Union law). Refunds go through Google Play, under its rules. A refunded or cancelled VIP token pack takes its tokens back (and “no ads” if it gave it): your token balance can then go below zero, and nothing can be bought with tokens until it is topped up again; what you already got with them stays yours.
  • Legal guarantee of conformity: for “no ads”, VIP tokens and items, Wub Lab is liable for any lack of conformity of the digital content (Articles L. 224-25-1 et seq. of the French Consumer Code). If there is a defect, write to contact@wub-lab.com: you are entitled to have it brought into conformity, free of charge, or failing that to a price reduction or to end the contract.
  • Wubs, VIP tokens and items are not refundable, except where the law requires it. They are tied to your Zip Zop account and lost when the account is deleted, including the tokens you bought.
  • Chests are earned by leveling up (one every ten levels, and one at each prestige) and can be bought with wubs, at the price shown in the shop — never with VIP tokens or money. A chest gives a random item from the whole catalog; its odds by rarity are shown in the shop before it opens, together with the chance of getting an item you do not own yet. Once you own everything a chest can give, it can no longer be bought (an earned chest still opens). An item you already own is a duplicate: you settle it as soon as the chest opens, by giving it for free to a friend who does not have it or by trading it for wubs (half its price); only a duplicate from a chest can be traded. If you leave the game before choosing, the choice waits for you in the shop; if you open another chest in the meantime, that duplicate is traded automatically.
  • Some items unlock as you level up, up to level 70. Until you reach its level, a locked item cannot be bought nor given (the level that counts is the giver’s); a chest can, however, give it to you sooner, and a duplicate can be given whatever its level. A prestige locks nothing again.
  • Stakes: a challenge sent to a friend can carry a stake of 10, 25 or 50 wubs — never VIP tokens or money. Between mutual friends only, from level 10 on both sides, on a Jukebox beatmap in its Jukebox version. The server takes your stake when your game starts; your friend puts in the same amount to take up the challenge, and the best score wins both stakes (a tie gives each their own back). A stake that is declined, or not taken within seven days, goes back to whoever sent it; taken and then abandoned, or not played within three days, it goes to whoever sent it. The server judges the scores like those of official games. A stake only involves wubs earned by playing, which have no monetary value, on a game of skill: it never pays out money or VIP tokens.
  • Room stakes: in an online room, a Classic round (not Survival or Items) can carry a stake. Each player proposes, in plain view of the others, a stake of 10, 25 or 50 wubs — never VIP tokens or money; the smallest one is used, and there is no stake if one of the round’s players hasn’t proposed one: nobody ever stakes more than they proposed. Between mutual friends of the host, from level 10, on a Jukebox beatmap in its Jukebox version. When the round starts, the server takes every player’s stake at once — or none — and holds it in escrow; the best score among those who finish the round wins every stake (a tie at the top shares them, and if everyone finishes tied, each gets their own back). Whoever leaves the round loses theirs. If nobody finishes, or the round never took place, everyone gets their stake back; a stake nobody has settled within a day is returned. The server judges the scores like those of official games. As with challenges, a stake only involves wubs earned by playing, which have no monetary value, on a game of skill: it never pays out money or VIP tokens.
  • Referrals give wubs to the referred player and to the referrer when the referred player reaches level 5 and has played on three different days (150 to the referred player, 300 to the referrer, at most ten referred players paid per referrer); at their third paid referral, the referrer receives the Ambassador emblem, and at the tenth the Headliner emblem.
  • The game day runs from midnight to midnight, on your phone’s clock: daily quests and challenge, login calendar, showcase and sale, daily caps all reset then. The time itself is the server’s. When your phone’s time zone changes, the new one counts from the first midnight at which both time zones are on the same day: changing time zone neither skips nor replays a day.
  • The login calendar is collected once a day, by tapping the day; a missed day sends it back to the first day.
  • Daily quests: three per game day, rewarded in wubs and experience, credited by the server only once a day, with a bonus when all three are done. They do not count the tutorial, a game ranked D, or a game shorter than thirty seconds.
  • A sale lasts until the time shown.
  • Seasonal event items (Halloween, Christmas, Winter…) can only be bought and given during the event, whose end date the shop shows; they do not come out of chests. Once bought, they are yours and can be worn all year round. Event dates may change from one year to the next.
  • Wub Lab may change the catalog, the prices, the quests, the stakes and the rewards. An item withdrawn from sale stays with those who already have it.
  • Cheating (modified client, exploiting a flaw in the game or the server, stakes lost on purpose to another account) may lead to the removal of the wubs, VIP tokens and items obtained that way, and to the suspension of the account.

8. The service

Zip Zop is provided as is, by a one-person studio: it may change, break down or stop, and the Jukebox may lose data despite the care taken. Wub Lab can only be held liable for direct damage caused by its own fault, within the limits allowed by law. Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law gives you as a consumer.

9. Changes and governing law

These terms may change: the date at the top of the page says so, and a significant change is announced in the game, where you will have to accept them again. They are governed by French law, without depriving you, as a consumer, of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you live; in the event of a dispute, you may bring it before the courts where you live.
