Sound credits

This is an English translation of the French sound credits (https://wub-lab.com/zip-zop/credits/). If the two versions differ, the French version prevails.

All of Zip Zop’s sounds are synthesized by the app (Synth.kt), except for the crowd’s reactions on the results screen (the cheering also plays during a game, on the last note of a full combo), which are studio recordings from Mixkit (Envato) under the Mixkit Sound Effects Free License: free to use in personal and commercial projects, games included, with no attribution required; they may not be redistributed or resold as they are (they are only used built into the game). License: https://mixkit.co/license/. Attribution given here as a courtesy.

The four applause WAV files were chosen and downloaded by Wub Lab; the ranking from S to C follows the content (large crowd whistling, auditorium with cheers, classroom, indoor clapping), not the raw recording level.

44.1 kHz WAV sources (16 or 24 bits, stereo). Fades, level normalization (loudnorm, −14 LUFS for the ovation, −16.5 for A, −19 for B, −22 for C, −16 for the boos: the intensity drops from one letter to the next) and encoding to stereo Ogg Vorbis at quality 5 with ffmpeg, 700 KB in all.

Discarded before: a home-made synthesis (“horrible”), then amateur CC0 recordings (Freesound 128 kbit/s MP3 previews, Wikimedia Commons) of mediocre quality.

Included songs

The songs shipped with the app, under a free license that allows commercial use (CC0 or CC BY), with the official Wub Lab beatmaps. For each, the attribution is given in the format requested by the author. The game synchronizes each song with its notes, which makes it an adaptation under the CC BY licenses; the file itself is shipped as the author distributes it.
